Can I get references? Yes! Please e-mail us at Loretta@SoMaCatering.com.

Are you licensed and insured?  We are fully licensed and insured for product and liquor liability. Our staff are covered by worker's compensation.

Do you cater events other than weddings? Yes, we provide custom menus for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, dinner parties, special events, corporate, holiday parties, graduations, funerals and drop off lunches.

Do you provide tastings? Yes, for weddings and by appointment only. Our chef is happy to prepare a custom tasting menu for up to 4 people. Because tastings are often done in a season other than which your event is being held we must usually shop locally for ingredients at retail stores. To off-set some of our out-of-pocket expenses, we charge $75 per person for tastings.

Do you provide child's pricing? Children from 0-6 eat for free and ages from 7 to 12 are half price of the proposed menu. Should your child or children require a "kids" menu, additional charges apply.

Do you provide rentals? We can arrange rentals with local rental companies for you. Rentals are not a part of our quote and will be billed separately through the rental company. We can also provide you with recommendations on selections and quantities.

Other than linens, dishes, chairs and tables what might I need to rent or take care of? Depending on location, season, weather and menu you may also need tents, lighting, kitchen equipment (to prepare your menu onsite.), water, trash removal etc. We can help you to organize and coordinate these rentals as we plan for your event.

Do you provide wine, beer or alcohol? We are not licensed to sell alcohol though we do maintain the necessary liability insurance to serve your guests if you provide the alcohol. We can provide you with recommendations on where to find the best buys and offer suggestions on selections

Do you provide bartenders for events? Yes. All of our bartenders are T.I.P.S certified. We carry full liability insurance for both food and alcohol service. As a general rule, you need to allow one bartender per 75 guests for beer and wine bars and one bartender per 50 guests for full bar service.

How do food truck rentals work?  Our food trucks are available starting at a $250.00 rental fee, plus the cost of food and service for a minimum of 50 guests for our Pizza Oven or our Pit Smoker. And a minimum of 75 for our SoMa Food Truck. We can definitely do events for less than 30, please contact us for details.

Do you make wedding cakes? Yes! We can arrange for cake or dessert samples to be added to your tasting.

Do you charge a cake cutting fee for your cakes? No, it is included in the cost of your wedding cake for any onsite catering event.

Can I bring in my own wedding cake?  While we discourage any outside food, if you choose to bring in an outside wedding cake there will be a cake cutting fee of $4.00 per slice added to your bill. An ingredient list and a liability waiver will need to be provided. We cut by an industry standard of 1"X 1"X 4" and are not liable for the number of portions from a cake not provided by us.

How many servers will I need? For best service, we provide 1 server for every 20 guests. However, the server ratio depends on how formal or complicated the event is and may be reduced or increased, depending on these factors. Using your event details, we will recommend the number of servers required based on our experience to make your event run smoothly!

How do you charge for service? We charge for our staff by the hour, based on a four hour minimum per staff person. We do our best to estimate the amount of time that our staff will be needed for your event. However, since many variables exist, the final cost is based on the actual time worked. For full service events, we require an Event Manager/s to oversee staff and ensure the coordination of a successful event.

Will I need additional staff other than servers and bartenders?  Yes,  you will need kitchen staff to prepare your meal onsite.

Other than food and service are there any additional costs? In addition to labor and food we also charge a 12% administrative fee on food sales. We also charge sales tax where applicable.

What does the administrative fee cover? This offsets labor and administration costs such as packing for your event, site visits and coordination, working with rental companies, etc. This is not a gratuity and is subject to state and local tax laws.

Is there an automatic gratuity added? We do not add gratuity. Tipping our staff is not required but is always welcome.

How much is the deposit and when is my final balance due?  50% of the estimated total of your proposal is due at the time of booking to save your date.  Balance is due the day of the event.  Any adjustments to labor or the food  bill, a refund or a supplemental bill will be issued within  in 7 days of your event.
